About

Kuona Trust was founded in Nairobi, Kenya in 1995 to serve the visual arts and has since worked with over a thousand artists. It provides studio space, training and opportunities as well as hosting international artist workshops and residencies- Kuona is the only organisation of it’s kind, working exclusively with visual artists, in East Africa.

Through the provision of new opportunities and the facilities with which to learn new skills, artists are able to advance themselves, increase their own profile and the role visual arts in Kenya. While art education in schools continues to be a weak point, the provision of new opportunities and facilities with which to learn new skills, available at Kuona Trust, allows artists to advance themselves, increase their own profile and the role visual arts in Kenya.

Kuona is also strong advocate for cultural exchange, hosting international artists’ workshops and residencies and assisting established artists to participate in exchange throughout the world- Kuona acts as a hub for its African network.

Kuona’s website includes updates on forthcoming events and a place to register for e-bulletins- for up to the minute news, as well as photos of artists work and events at Kuona, you can also join their Facebook page.
