HANGAR is a cultural association which aims to organise, develop, implement and disseminate cultural, multidisciplinary and intercultural projects within the social, artistic, educational field. It aims to promote activities locally, nationally and internationally, collaborating with public and private institutions, involving artists and diverse communities.
HANGAR was born out of the will of a group of artists, curators and producers, belonging to Xerem or its close collaborators, to create conditions for artistic research and creation in close proximity to the specific context of the city of Lisbon. HANGAR's activities include: curating exhibitions inclusive all intersections of art (performance, multimedia and the visual arts included), conducting educational workshops, seminars and vocational training, hosting artist residencies in order to develop creative networks, and publishing and distributing both digital and printed publications, whilst producing and disseminating contemporary art within a multidisciplinary perspective (museums, architecture, urban planning, science, literature, etc.).
Visit HANGAR's website for more information (in Portuguese and English) on the organisation, their exhibition and residency programmes, as well as news on other events and projects.
