We are delighted to announce that Triangle Network is supporting the Picha Atelier at the Lubumbashi Biennale to host a 3 week residency for Congolese artist Mega Mingiedi Tunga.

Mingiedi will spend 3 weeks in Lubumbashi to coincide with the launch of the Biennale in October 2019. During this time he will be developing new work based on the local cityscape, while also delivering workshops and taking part in discussions with members of the local art scene.

Mega Mingiedi Tunga, born in 1976 in Kinshasa and graduated from the Kinshasa School of Fine Arts. Mingiedi uses drawings, collage, installation and graffiti to reflect on urban spaces, looking at the built environment’s codes and the survival strategies that people develop in order to navigate such context.

The Lubumbashi Biennial, founded in 2008 under the name of Rencontres Picha, has become one of the most experimental and dynamic artistic events of the African continent , offering a platform for presentation and meeting to local and international artists and cultural actors.
