The first Kampala Contemporary Art Festival (KLA ART 012) took place in Uganda from Sunday October 7th to Sunday October 14th 2012.
The Festival aimed to explore new and innovative ways of creating art and presenting outcomes to the public. 12 shipping containers were placed around the city and used as an exhibition space and platform to showcase new artistic talent.
Eight art organisations in Kampala joined forces to host the festival: 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, Afriart Gallery, AKA Gallery, Alliance Française Kampala, Goethe-Zentrum Kampala, Makerere Art Gallery/IHCR, Nommo Gallery, and Uganda Museum.
