Lucy Steggals is currently undertaking an International artist Fellowship at Insakartists Trust in Lusaka, Zambia. Steggals is an artist inspired by personal/public collections and in ideas surrounding re-presenting existing resources. She creates site/situation specific artworks born from conversations with people. Her sources range from found objects or images, the everyday and the playful. Her practice draws on popular culture, souvenirs, everyday ephemera, history, mythology and the environment. Her work is collaborative, constructing environments and orchestrating situations where people can actively participate.
This blog post, updated regularly by Lucy during her Fellowship, aims to follow her time at Insaka and share an evolving collection of images and film borne from her investigations as artist-in residence. The posts are loosely connected to ideas surrounding play and act as visual thoughts in motion.
