“Transient: in between albums and archives.” Artist Residency. from Caracois Voadores on Vimeo.

In December 2012 Xerem held the first ever International Artists Workshop Transient: In Between Albums and Archives, a 10 day programme for 6 international artists. This was organized by Xerem and LARGO Residências in partnership with Triangle Network and Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa – Fotográfico.

Resident artists:

Anton Theileis (Germany), Carla Cabanas (Portugal), Ivan Grilo (Brazil), Jordi Burch (Portugal), René Tavares (São Tomé e Príncipe), Susana Anágua (Portugal).

Artist and workshop organiser Monica de Miranda said: Our aims for Transient were to provide a very solid and strong impact to these artists, namely on the development of their personal artistic research contents, enrich those contents, improve and/or question methodology of work, and specially provide the time, connections and inputs to allow the invited artists to allow more space for interchange of ideas, actions and creations and in the meanwhile be more experimental.

Another aim of this workshop was to have a closer relationship to the local context, bringing the actions to the street levels, and ensure a more vivid and rich relationship between the artists and producers to the local population. Finally other concern was to further improve the quality and visibility of the artists talks, inviting other artists or curators to discuss with small groups of artists around some aspects of their works and increase the reflection in regards to Transient workshop as whole.
